Adam J. Handelsman
Managing Director,
Principal/New York Office
Adam J. Handelsman is
Managing Director and Principal at Lippert / Heilshorn &
Associates (LHA), and oversees the organization’s Public
& Media Relations practice. At LHA, Handelsman directs
the strategic media relations programs for all public
and private portfolio accounts, drives new business
development and manages the firm’s external
communications efforts. Handelsman is a hands-on
executive PR generalist and strategist who understands
the evolution of today’s media environment and how to
secure high impact coverage for clients under his
supervision.
Prior to
joining LHA, he served as Executive Vice President;
National Director of Strategic Media Relations for Cohn
& Wolfe, a leading global public relations agency.
Prior to C&W, Handelsman served as EVP & Partner at 5W
Public Relations for five years and played an
instrumental role in the firm's dramatic growth. In
addition to overseeing the management and account
services at 5W, he spent his time developing staff, and
providing senior level account strategy and message
development on many of the firm’s anchor accounts, which
included the Patina Restaurant Group, Evian, Phillips
Van Heusen, NICE Systems, On Track Innovations, Chef’s
Diet, Bradley & Montgomery Advertising, iSkoot, Scanbuy,
Smart Tuition and Regent University, among others.
Over the course of his career, Handelsman has worked
with such recognizable brands as Starbucks, World Gym,
Shopping.com, Merck, Nike, ProLink, Guardian Angel,
Cardinal Health and Mercantile Capital Group; helping
further develop and leverage brands through proactive
media relations. He also previously served as Director
of Public Relations for Netpulse Media Networks, creator
of the Internet Powered Workout, where he worked closely
with CEO Thomas Proulx (co-founder of Intuit and author
of the accounting software "Quicken"). Prior to joining
Netpulse, he held positions at two New York based public
relations firms, and before that, was a senior publicist
at The Hearst Corporation.
Recognized as a thought leader in the Public Relations
sector; in October 2007, he was appointed to the Board
of Directors of the Public Relations Society of
America’s (PRSA) New York Chapter. He also sits on the
Advisory Board of Phantom Advertising and is involved in
several charitable organizations.
